About

In 1997 I was living in Jacksonville Beach, FL and my best friend Lucy and I decided to take a pottery class for fun. I fell in love with creating things on a spinning wheel using a hunk of mud. I got my own wheel around 2000. Over the years I've thrown on/off, taking classes in order to have access to kiln space and glazes. I moved back to Clemson in 2009 and I hadn't been making much at all for a few years. In 2011 my sister-in-law, Megan, called me distressed because she had broken her berry bowl and she needed me to make her another one. I called my neighbor, friend, former boss, and local potter, George Corontzes, to see if I could make a replacement bowl and fire it in his kiln. I made a few extra pieces too, and I didn't want to stop there. I remember the day that George said to me, "You are good enough to do this on your own." This is how LoLo Pottery came to be. I feel blessed to have a hobby that I love and for all the people who want my pottery so that I can keep creating. I am so thankful that Megan broke that bowl and I am ever so grateful to my friend and mentor, George, for encouraging me, teaching me and pushing me to do this thing.
