Speaker: Justin Brown Justin Brown is currently the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Charleston Southern University. Justin Brown is deeply committed to fostering positive change in people's lives and cultivating influential leaders. He previously served as the character coach/chaplain for the Furman University football team and works in the school's office of alumni and parent engagement. With over a decade of experience in higher education, he specializes in student affairs and athletics, focusing on student growth and development. Brown is known for his expertise in organizational and personal leadership, spiritual development, and student success programming. As an academic scholar, speaker, edu­cator, and minister, he is frequently sought after to provide insights in these areas. In 2016, Brown introduced the 'Go 1 More' concept, emphasizing perseverance in the face of challenges. He passionately encourages individuals to recognize their potential and achieve their goals, urging them to take one more step, complete one more task, and get up one more time. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Brown held roles as an adjunct professor and asso­ciate vice president of campus ministries and student engagement at North Greenville University. He began his career in higher education as an assistant football coach for the Mercer University Bears in 2012, where he also served as athletics chaplain. A native of Warner Robins, Ga., Brown holds a master's degree in divinity and organiza­tional leadership from Mercer University, as well as a bachelor's degree in communica­tion studies and religion from Furman, which he earned in 2009. He was a four-year football letterman for the Paladins as a defensive tackle, totaling 172 tackles, 30 tackles for-loss, and seven sacks. Brown's research interests include leading multi-ethnic organizations, racial diversity in churches, and leadership development. He and his wife Kodee have twin daughters, Mya & Mila, and reside in Charleston.
